DENAN Law (PSE Mark)

The Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (DENAN: DENKI YOHIN ANZEN HO) is a Japanese law in force as of April 1, 2001. It is a revision of the Electrical Appliance and Material Control Law (DENTORI: DENKI YOHIN TORIHIKI HO). The DENTORI law applied to type certification granted by the government to the products to be regulated. The DENAN law applies to third party quality certification which is granted by a third party called "a registered inspection agency".

The products subject to regulation by the DENAN law are 112 items categorized as "Specified Electrical Appliances" and 340 items categorized as "Non-specified Electrical Appliances." Specified Electrical Appliances are required to undergo conformity inspection at a registered inspection agency.
The following PSE marks will be affixed to the product as a mark proving conformance as a Specified or Non-specified Electrical Appliance.
