Dimension Measurement

Using Edge Detection

1. Point of Variation within Window (Edge Detection)

Over the target shape which need to be detected, set X and Y windows as shown in the figure below. Inside these windows are scanned and the first shade change (or color change) is recognized as an edge and its X and Y coordinates are detected. Of course, you can use only X window to detect X coordinates.

2. Measuring the Distance between Edges with Various Test Mode

Outer diameter measurement   Inner diameter measurement
Outer diameter   Inner diameter
Easy Measurement of Distance Between Edges
This function allows measurement of outer or inner diameter by detecting distance between outer edges or inner edges.

Center pitch   Gap pitch
Center pitch   Gap pitch
Distance Measurement of Multiple Pins
This function measures distance of multiple edges within the window to obtain maximum, minimum, and mean pitch.

No. of edge Position detection
Number of edges Position detection
Easy Measurement of Number of Edges
This function measures the number of edges (bright to dark or dark to bright) within the window.

3. Inspection Examples

Connector Pin Pitch Measurement
The maximum, minimum, and mean center pitch of all connector pins are measured and if either maximum or minimum value is out of tolerance, it is detected as defective.
Example of dimension measurment   Correct pin pitch
Normal
  Incorrect pin pitch
Abnormal
