DARK-ON

An operating mode that allows the sensor head to output an ON signal when the prescribed light quantity, or more, is blocked by the target.

Decibel

A unit used to express the change in amplitude or the level of sound. As a unit, it is written as dB. Decibels are calculated as 20log (V1/V2) for voltage (current) signals, and as 10log (V1/V2) for other signals.

Delta-sigma A/D Conversion Method

The delta-sigma A/D conversion method is a combination of oversampling and integration to achieve more accurate A/D conversion than conventional common methods (sequential conversion method or flash conversion method).

Depth-of-field

A lens with a large depth-of-field, allows even odd-shaped objects to be brought into focus.

Detecting distance

The distance from the detecting surface of a sensor head to the point where a standard target approaching the sensor head is first detected. Maximum operating distance (ES Series): The maximum obtainable operating distance, disregarding accuracy.

Detecting distance - Reflective types

The maximum distance from the sensor head to a standard target that permits the sensor head to stably detect a light beam reflected from the standard target.

Detecting distance - Retro-reflective type

The maximum distance from the transmitter to the receiver that permits the receiver to stably receive reflected from the reflector.

Detecting distance - Thrubeam type

The maximum distance from the transmitter to the receiver that permits the receiver to stably receive a light beam emitted from the transmitter.

Detection Range

It means the rated range of FD. The detection range is 10 to 100% of F.S.

Differential Balanced Input

A differential input of which the positive and negative sides of the input circuit are the same circuit.
<=> Imbalanced input

Direct Marking

Direct marking is used for the product contents which must be changed according to products or production lots, such as the quality assurance date for foods, lot numbers/serial numbers used for production history management, or process management symbols used only inside factories. Since most of these product contents are directly printed on during production process, this method is called direct marking.

Display resolution

The minimum unit that can be displayed. With the AP-31, for example, the display resolution is 1 mmHg. Displayed values change sequentially as follows; 99, 100, 101 .…

Dual-processing

Dual-processing is a technology to stabilize measurement by mounting two CPUs for parallel processing in which data capturing and GUI/network operations are conducted separately. Data dropouts or system hang-up will not occur even when heavy loads are placed on the CPU, such as LAN communication or I/O control, during measurement.
