Displacement Sensors

Overview

Displacement sensors measure the distance an object moves and they can also be used to measure object height and width. There are 2 types of displacement sensors: Contact types, utilizing a dial gage, differential transformer, etc., and non-contact types, utilizing a magnetic field, laser beam, ultra-sonic wave, etc. This section focuses on non-contact sensors capable of fast response measurement.
