What is Standard Distribution Code?

Standard Distribution Code (JIS-X-0502) is a barcode mainly marked on corrugated cardboard boxes. It is standardized by JIS as a code used for logistics management.

Configuration of Standard Distribution Code

The identification code is either one digit (for a 14-digit standard version) or two digits (for a 16-digit extended version).
Standard distribution code
Standard Distribution Code has two versions:
the standard version (14 digits) and the extended version (16 digits). The difference is the number of digits of the distribution identification code being added (one or two).

Point The manufacturer code for a JAN code can also be used for a Standard Distribution Code without changes; it is not necessary to register another manufacturer code.

Basic Dimensions of Standard Distribution Code

The basic dimensions of Standard Distribution Code are specified with a narrow bar width of 1 mm (with 1x magnification). The code can be scaled within the range of 0.25x to 1.2x (0.625x to 1.2x for products exported from Japan). The table below shows the barcode length for each magnification (including quiet zones).
